Vissi d'arte (Tosca. G. Puccini) Live.
Baluarte Auditorio, Pamplona. Noviembre 2011.
The soprano from Badajoz, Carmen Solís, sang the role of Nedda at the Romolo Valli Theater in Reggio Emilia (Italy) last Sunday, February 9th, substituting for the Italian soprano Carmela Remigio. The Spanish soprano was called on Saturday afternoon to fly to the Italian city to sing on Sunday at the performance starting at 4:30pm which would be transmitted live on internet around the world...
MoreI didn't intend to write a review of the Madame Butterfly performance... since I was invited by a friend and not accredited. But at the end... I felt obliged to evaluate the extraordinary work of a soprano in one of the most compromising and difficult roles in opera. Carmen Solís gave a lesson in song in the role of Cio-Cio-San. From the first, the beauty of tone was ascertained and increased as the work progressed. Her voice is expressive, well rendered, and fills the hall above the orquestra... She uses a broad palette of shades and degrees which express her moods, always confident in pitch, especially in beautiful high notes, emotionally broad and forlorn... Aside from the vocal aspect, her esteemed performance as an actress must also be noted and is again with total surrender...
Plateamagazine.com Javier del Olivo 18/6/19
More...And above all, the enthusiastic applause of the evening for Carmen Solís as Liù, the Calaf's slave secretly in love with him, who totally surprised the audience with an exhaustive control of the character, the scene and the feeling (obviously aside from the vocal aspect where she clearly surpassed all her fellow singers). Brava!...

More...Very well sung, with shades of exquisite refinement and captivating lyricism, was the Liù of the soprano Carmen Solís...
scherzo. es Javier Pérez Senz 28/5/19
More22 May 2018. Badajoz. Soprano Carmen Solís will be the leading performer during the Orchestra of Extremadura's (OEx) 2018-19 season since she will perform as guest artist in three concerts...
NOTE: The performances will be 8,9 November 2018; 14,15 March 2019; 30,31 May 2019.
The soprano Carmen Solís has a powerful voice and stage presence. Her technique, totally refined, converted her into musical, exquisite resonance. Her spianato was splendid. Her fiato was overwhelming with notes left in the air with no intention of ever dissolving. The color of her voice, shifting as intended, generous in the inflections, never lost the point of authenticity, we always knew that she and only she was singing. Extraordinary. The volume that Verdi demanded of sopranos seems to have been made for Carmen Solís who even at the highest point of the performance showed no sign of fatigue. The sound of her lower notes and the discrete brilliance of the high notes made the spectator participate in her situations, enchantments, miseries and then move to despair, consternation of death, paroxysm. Can anyone still doubt about the "humanity" of her performance? Those with ears, listen...
codalario.com, José A. Gil
"Carmen Solís, debuting in the Zarzuela, was precise in a very vocally risky role and showed great confidencein her stage performance..."
La Vanguardia, Concha Barrigós
"Lyric soprano with a very beautiful voice...a dramatic capacity which she relayed by playing the polyhedral side of her character: flirtation, sensuality, ambition, a certain tenderness and a lack of sensitivity towards the overwhelming passion of the two men that cross in her life. An actress and a singer..."
Opera World
"Carmen Solís has the voice of a spinto soprano which Rosa demands, and a beautiful and homogeneous instrumental experience. This young singer, who also adds temperament and musicality at difficult moments, easily overcomes any difficulty."
El Arte de la Fuga, Fernando Fraga
"Carmen Solís sang a marvellous Nedda, attentive to the details of the score (especially in the famous "Balatella") and won over with her rich theatrical play."
El Mercurio, Juan Antonio Muñoz H.
"The soloists were headed by the Spanish soprano Carmen Solís, who fully played the character of Butterfly with all the appropriate female Japanese aptitudes, such as her manner of walking, of sitting, holding her hands, etc. to which was added her beautiful and powerful voice..."
visionescriticas.cl, Gilberto Ponce
"Carmen Solís, overwhelming, performed a moving Butterfly, gentle but with dramatic and above all, musical strength...especially outstanding in the second and third act where she gave the character all of her tragic profile. She was the great champion of the evening and the audience already burst into applause after her performance of the aria "Un bel vi vedremo"."
